Wrestling

This is our first time that the boys are wrestling. They love it but it makes for a long day to drive over an hour away to watch Triston wrestle only once for about 40 seconds. The things we do for our kids lol We are very proud of him for giving it his best.

Just before the match Triston found out he was wrestling a girl, he wasn't thrilled at all about it either.

They were putting bands on their legs for "home" & "away" for the points.

He pinned her down within 38 seconds and the match was over within 41 seconds.

Donation for the silent auction for Alli Childress

April is our boys' hairdresser and Alli is her daughter, she was diagnosed with luekemia last week and our little community is having a chili supper & silent auction today for her. I got a few things made over the last week to donate to the auction. I certainly hope the benefit goes well and please say a prayer for precious little Alli and her family.

This afghan was super easy to make and got most of it crochet on the way to & from the football game Friday night in Dresden. The pattern came from Lion Brand Yarn site and takes about 6 hrs to make. I finished it up Sun afternoon using 3 strands of Red Heart Yarn white, navy blue and pastel blue.

Love making crochet dishtowels, they are something I can get done within 30 minutes and I love having them hanging on my cabinet or stove. I found them on sale last year after Christmas so I bought several to have on hand when I needed a small gift.

There are 2 scarves bundled up here one is longer than the other. I used Vanna White's yarn in red, it's really soft to the touch.

Felt gift bags are so fun to make, I decided to make a set of 5 snowmen so they could be used for any occasion other than "Christmas". They are assorted blues and the snowmen all have different colored scarves.

The note cards goes with the gift bags and I used all the same type papers on them but they are all different. I stamped & embossed the outline and then colored the hat & scarves a different color on each one. Also added silver stickles to the little guy so he would glisten cut him out and added him to the cards. They were super fun to make and will probably make a few more.

Here's a pic of the entire set.

Proud of my teenager

I have a tendency to think that I have 2 most amazing teenagers that a mama can have :) Saturday Levi showed me a different side of him that I really didn't know he had. Jake our nephew who is autistic wanted Pepsi and didn't want to eat his lunch. He was already frustrated to the point that he wanted to throw his pizza away and only wanted his Pepsi or "Coke as he called it". Levi sat down with him and told him if he would eat a big bite that he would give him a drink. He sat there coaxing him until he ate the entire piece :) I just couldn't believe that he had that kind of patience. It just amazes me that at 15 Levi had the drive to sit there with him and made me even more proud of him to see that he had just exactly what it took to get the kid to eat :) Once again another proud mama moment :) I'll never understand all the issues that goes along with Autism and I don't know that anyone will. I listen to a Christian radio station, the DJ has the exact same Austism that our nephew has and while he still says he still has some issues he's been able to lead a normal life. I think Autism is something that we all need to pray about and if you know anyone who has it say a special prayer for them!

Halloween costumes

Jesse from Toy Story
I had the pleasure of making 3 costumes for a dear friend Christy's. Jesse was lots of fun to make, Christy sent me the pants & shirt and I revamped them.
The pants were a little difficult because they were so small I had to rip the sides so I could attach the "cow" print material to them.

The shirt was so easy. I added piping to the bottom and the design was done with yarn. Thankfully I already had everything I needed except for the piping and my friend Sheila had some that she gave me. Overall I was thrilled with both of these.

Mr. Potato Head
This was super fun to make. I used a pillow case cut out the armholes and the neck. I used the leftover from the bottom to sew a pocket inside so it could be stuffed to make it fuller looking. The face was made with felt and I sewed it on so it would stay because they had several places to go.
Lizzie was just the model for these pics because it was sent to FL for Christy's son Noah. She wasn't very good about standing still for the pics either. lol

Woody's Vest
Very easy to sew and even made it without an actual pattern. I used the leftover material from Jesse's pants.

Mario
Oh it's just Jake, he didn't want his pic taken at all. He's too funny.

He gave Lizzie a bag of his candy when she woke up from her nap.

Cookout & hayride
We went to Bill & Reba on Oct 22nd. We had so much fun. I didn't take any pics but Levi's friend took this one for us on the hayride. It was a gorgeous night. They had a haunted woods but Triston and all his buddies didn't do a great job scaring anyone. It was still a ton of fun though.
