Quilt part 5

I'm not sure why I've felt the need to continue posting the progress of this quilt except for the fact that I've spent so much time working on it & I'm loving how it's turned out :) I'm dropping it off this afternoon to Roberta to be quilted & I can't wait to see the finished product :)

I had Marla embroider this for us & we picked up the square Friday night.

Sewing away on these things Friday night & Sat afternoon.

The quilt top has officially been completed. I surely hope she thinks it's as pretty as I do. I have to say that I love it & I'm not a huge fan of yellow. It's turned out to be a king size & I think it's the largest one I've made so far.

Music City Marathon

This would be my 2nd one to complete but this year the weather was way different than last year. We were rained on the entire time, it wasn't as bad as it could have been I guess. Every stitch of clothing we had on was soaked but I'm praising God there are no blisters on my feet which is what I worried most about. I did wear some really thick socks though & I think that may have helped tons.

I was so thrilled to have Eugene participating with me, we stayed together until just after the 3 mile marker when he took a potty break. I was worried about him because of his hurt foot but not long after I crossed the finish line he called to say he was also finished. We both had a great experience & I'm excited for the next one.

The tag added to my shoe, I love attaching these :)

We wore these bracelets they gave us when we picked up our registration packets.

Before the race, this was Eugene's first attempt & I'm thankful to say even though it wasn't the greatest experience because of the weather, he's said he will attempt again next year :)

Got the bling to prove it!!

This was my run keeper stats, my official time was 2:37 which means I was able to shave off 16 mins from last years official time. Yay me!! I really wanted to stay around the 2:30 - 2:40 range & I was able to do just that even though I was drenched & frozen.

Diaper Cycle

This was my first attempt at making one of these, my sister in law had called & ask if I would tackle it for her, after doing some research online I figured it wouldn't be an issue at all. I was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be but was happy to get it done. I guess I will be making another one soon since my friend's daughter is due in May.

These were much easier to make than I anticipated.

Before I started adding anything to it.

Please ignore the mess, we are living in the camper & I'm working on a quilt.

Quilt part 3

I'm so excited to be getting this much done on this quilt. My goal is to get it all put together & delivered to Roberta before May 1st so she has plenty of time to get it quilted before Mother's Day. Plus we are going to be leaving to go to PCB for bike week and with Mother's Day that following Sun it wouldn't give me much time to do any sewing.

Dilengently sewing these babies together on Sat & Sun

All 30 squares sewn together

Cutting the strips

Matched up all the strips with the squares
A few squares completed

This was my first attempt at mitered corners and I can't believe how easy it really is to do.

There are 9 that have the border added once these all have the border around them I'm going to strip it with the red.

UPDATE - 4/24
I've managed to get 19 squares completed with the borders, tonight's goal is to get them all bordered so I can start sewing the red strips to them. Tomorrow night's goal is to get the red strip cut & finish sewing them on Sat afternoon & Sun. My time is running out so the goal is to be completely finished by Sun afternoon so I can drop it off on Monday to be quilted.

Quilt- part 2

I'm just a little closer to completing the quilt for Margaret, I was able to get lots done yesterday after getting home from Scott's funeral. I even made the phone call to make sure my gal can get it quilted by Mother's Day for me, if I get it completed. That's my goal this week & this weekend. I think Michael has to work so if he does I will be working diligently to get this done. Last night after squaring up all the little squares I sorted them on my cutting mat so tonight I can sew away without too much thought about which squares go where lol

Squared & ready to be put together

Here's my layout for tonight this saves me tons of time so I don't really have to "think" about what to sew together lol

I've got 8 completed right now

Goodwill Score

If you know me very well, you know I'm a cheap shopper, especially when it comes to clothes for me. Almost everything I wear is either Goodwill or "free" from friends so I was especially excited to find so many things that I really liked during lunch on Tues. I can't wear any of my clothes from last year because I've lost a little weight and with spring/summer quickly approaching it was time to add to my wardrobe again. I spent less than $45 and there's even some Ann Taylor Loft items in there :)

2 cute little sleeveless jackets & a sweater that I can wear to work

A pair of pants for work, a really long skirt that comes to the floor & a pair of shorts

Sorry for the crappy pic :)

Squares & lots of them

Several months ago I ask my mil if I were to make her a quilt what colors would she want & what pattern would she want. She informed me that she wanted yellow, black with a touch of red. She also looked at some of the squares that I had done for Levi's quilt & showed me the one that she liked.

So a couple of weeks ago I cut & cut & cut until I had everything all cut out. Then I started sewing until my sewing machine messed up, I had Michael look at it on Sunday & he was able to fix it :)

Last night Michael & Levi went to the Lion's Club meeting & Triston was gone hunting so I sat & sewed. I was excited to get several of the square sewed together and I started squaring them up until it was time for bed. It look like chaos right now but I'm hoping to be finished within a few more nights of sewing so I can sew it all together & take it to get it quilted. My goal is to be finished for Mother's Day but we'll see if that happens or not.

These are all the red squares which will go in the center and all the white squares cut out.

I've already sewed all the larger squares together & then cut them in half.

This stack is the squares sewn together.

This stack I started squaring up :)

My running excitement

I still think it's so funny that I was 40 yrs old before I decided to start running & I seriously realized that I love it. I wonder why in the world did I not start doing it sooner :) I was most excited yesterday because I was able to complete 2 miles in less than 10 mins each, most of my first 3 miles are a little over 10 mins which makes me happy, so now you see why I'm so excited to get the first 2 under 10 mins :)

I know for seasoned runners this probably isn't a big deal but it surely is for this "old" gal :) I'm striving to stay around 2 hrs & 40 mins for the 1/2 marathon on April 27th. Last year I completed it in 2 hrs & 53 mins so if I can beat that time I will be completely E.X.C.I.T.E.D.

I would have to keep an 11 min pace per mile to be able to complete it in the time I want. I know I can do it for a few miles just not sure I can continue for 13.1 so we'll see what's in store :)

She's learning early

This girl can be so girly, girl at times, she brought her fingernail polish with her & wanted to paint my nails. I couldn't tell her no, so now I sit here with purple glittery fingernails & toenails. Yes, they are both a mess, real heavy in some places & real light in others but she enjoyed doing it. She made sure when Bubba woke up he saw them too :)
