13.1

So I'm going to walk/run Music City Marathon. I'm kind of nervous & excited all at the same time. I've been doing some training which is amazing since I've never been an athletic person at all. Just tonight I told Michael as weird as it is walking/running is so relaxing and much more enjoyable than I could even imagine.

This is something I've wanted to do for the last 3 yrs but couldn't find anyone to train with me. In the fall I had a couple of people tell me they wanted to do it but they have backed out for different reasons. I decided that I didn't care if I had anyone at all to train with me because I was going to do it even if I had to go by myself. I was so glad that I've gotten to be a part of the Chapel Hill crew on Sat.

The first time we walked/ran 10 miles I was so sore afterward but this past Sat when we did 11 miles it didn't bother me at all. I really enjoy going with the Chapel Hill bunch on Saturdays even though they are all faster than I am lol I decided before I started that my goal was to just finish but now I'm really hoping to finish within 3 hours.

I certainly have lots of people who have encouraged me to get to this point but I don't think anyone is as encouraging as Michael. He tells me multiple times a week that he's so proud that I've continued on with the training even though I go during the week by myself.

Stay tuned for the results after the marathon on April 28th. Please keep me and all the other in your prayers that we can get through this without any issues or complications :)

Crafty weekend

Since Michael was going to be gone all weekend I made a nice long list of things that I really wanted/needed to get done. I'm happy to say that lots of things crafty & non crafty were completed. Here's some pics of the Easter wreath that I made, the plastic eggs are a little harder to cover than I thought they would so it took up more time that I wanted but since it was raining & I coulnd't mow the yard it all worked out.

Yarn that was picked up at various garage sales.
I used the pipe covering stuff again for this one.

Originally thought I'd just cover 1/2 of it but ended up covering the bottom half with plain yellow material that I had in my stash.

The end result

I was very honored when Amy called & ask if I could finish up these quilts for the nursing home where she works. The little ladies there had pieced together 4 quilts, 2 of them just needed to be binded together which are the 2 below that I worked on. The other 2 needed to be quilted & binded so I contacted on of our neighbors who happily agreed to do them. She has a quilting machine and I knew she could finish them a lot quicker than I could & I wasn't sure I even wanted to tackle it on my regular sewing machine. I was even more excited when she told me she was doing it for free. I had already decided that I wasn't going to charge for the labor on mine either so it worked out perfectly :)

Proud of my wonderful husband

Michael went to the fire academy this past weekend and I'm so proud of him and what he's accomplished. There were 64 hours of classes that lead up to this weekend that he had to complete before he could take the weekend class. This also doesn't take into account for the fact that he's been sick off & on for the past 2 weeks and I was praying that he would make it through the weekend without any issues and God answered those prayers :)  I still need to take pics of his certificates but I was able to take some before & after pics of him. He couldn't have any facial hair except for a mustache which is totally different for him because he's not been clean shaven since Levi was in Kindergarten and he's a Junior in high school. He will be growing it back out for me because I love it :)

This was taken at 5:30 on Sat morning so he wasn't excited at all that I wanted to even take a pic :)

Love, Honor, Cherish & Obey

Michael & I said our vows over 20 years ago the following words were included Love - Honor - Cherish - Obey. It's safe to say that while we made have had our ups and downs over the years, we've both been very sacred to the vows that we took.

Why is it then that some family members make me feel as if I'm the bad guy for trying  to "obey" and "honor" my husbands wishes? I've always felt like I need to do what was asks of me but at the same time he's really good about doing the same for me to. We just have that mutal agreement :)

This past weekend we spent Sunday afternoon at the ER because Michael was having some issues. We happened to be at his mom's when he said he was ready to go to the hospital. These were words that I was so ready to hear since he'd been hurting for several days.

His mom decided she was going which was fine because I know she was concerned but Michael didn't really want anyone there because we had no idea what was going on and he didn't want anyone else to worry. Honestly had we left from our house no one would have known until we got some answers, we've both been in situations that we've decided to keep information between the two of us until we got more concrete info to pass along to family members.

He & I both thought it wasn't heart related since they had done several tests over the last few months but since he was having chest pains they immediately took him back and started hooking him up to all sorts of machines. Thankfully all the test came back negative for anything related to heart.

It was quite funny that after they knew it wasn't heart issues every nurse, dr or emt person that came through his door ask if he had ever had gall bladder problems. He said not that I know of but maybe I am?

They did a CT scan & ultrasound but nothing showed up on his gall bladder so the ER dr suggested that he get a HIDA scan because he said sometimes it will show up on it. We've read a little about it on the net, a HIDA scan is a type of imaging study called a nuclear medicine scan. This means the HIDA scan uses a radioactive chemical or tracer that helps highlight certain organs on the scan.

We are certainly hoping they can schedule to have this done by Friday so he can get some answers, poor guy has been eating the most bland diet ever and I'm sure he's going to get tired of it.

He's got to go the fire academy this upcoming weekend & I certainly pray that he gets through it and is able to complete it because he's worked so hard to get this done. He's put in numerous hours of training to be able to get this far.

I can honestly say that I will continue to Love - Honor - Cherish & Obey my husband whether certain family members approve or not because apparently it's gotten us this far in our wonderful marriage so I suspect it will get us even further :) We are very blessed to have each other!

Standing alone

So everyone kept putting all these pics on FB of their brooms standing alone and it was driving me crazy that mine wouldn't do it. I decided to try it again on a different day and guess what it worked. I was so excited and it was really weird that it would actually do it. I have no idea why or how but here's my pics.

Towel Cake

I was excited when I was ask if I could make one for a friend's sister, they are so easy to make and make a really nice gift. I was glad they brought everything to me because that gave them the opportunity to get the colors that they wanted. This consists of 3 towels on the bottom layer, 3 hand towels on the top layer as well as the wash clothes. I did roll up 2 of the wash clothes and put them under the candle so it would be seen then I rolled up one the washclothes to put behind the embroidered hand towel to make it have a little "fluff" to it. I hope they like it.
